Credential for Your Career Advancement & Service to Your Community

Look around and you will see that our lives are filled with opportunities for prevention! Today’s society faces a plethora of destructive forces chief among them is substance abuse and its association with violence, crime and disease. The good news is all this can be prevented once a community takes ownership of and values PREVENTION. Prevention belongs in all sectors of the community, including families, schools, youth programs, workplaces, faith-based organizations, government, media and others. Prevention starts with awareness and early intervention, but the success of any prevention strategy relies on competent, well-trained, ethical and professional prevention specialists.

State and Federal agencies and policies place prevention at the forefront of health care in the USA. Local, state and national organizations are looking for qualified prevention professionals to help with this work. Credentialing assures that staff members are competent, ethical, knowledgeable and skilled.  Having credentialed prevention staff ensures funders that their providers are delivering on their prevention goals and desired outcomes with the latest evidence-based practices. Becoming a Prevention Apprentice, Certified Preventionist, or an Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist requires that candidates demonstrate competency through experience, education, supervision, and the passing of an examination.
