TESTING PROCEDURES
Applicants applying to become Internationally Certified Prevention Specialists (ICPS) must successfully pass IC&RC’s Prevention Specialist’s Exam. The exam is computer-based and is administered at multiple sites throughout Georgia on specific dates and times that are year-round. Once the ICPS application is complete and the fee has been received by PCCG, the PCCG Administrator will pre-register the applicant to take the Prevention Specialist’s Exam with IC&RC’s testing management provider, SMT. After the applicant is pre-registered, SMT will send an email to the applicant with more information about the process for registering to take the exam. Once pre-registered, the applicant will have one year to take the exam.
IC&RC has developed a candidate guide to help you prepare for the Prevention Specialist examination. The candidate guide provides background information on the exam, exam content guidelines, sample questions, and examination reference lists. You can access the Prevention Specialist candidate guide on the IC&RC website at https://www.internationalcredentialing.org/examprep.
After the applicant takes the exam with a passing score, SMT will notify PCCG and the applicant will receive a letter confirming s/he passed. If the applicant does not pass the exam, s/he must wait sixty (60) days to retake the exam and will have to pay the full cost of the exam, $150.
